Two to three times a year, Gina returns to Kampala to offer practice within the slums and also to offer trainings throughout Uganda and Kenya to social workers, street counselors, trauma therapists, humanitarian aid workers and caregivers.
These include an overview on trauma and how it affects the nervous system, the various kinds of trauma as well an understanding of PTSD and CTSD and how mind-body practices can be utilized to help regulate one’s nervous system and move from surviving into thriving.
Recent workshops include “Mindfulness and Trauma Management” and have been successfully employed by the psychologists and counselors of The African Youth Initiative Network in Lira.
